I was a young man and had just recently graduated from Vermont College’s MFA in writing program in 1995 and on the side was involved in this emerging phenomena known as the Internet. I had been seeking out publication of my manuscript and believed at that time that the internet was the perfect tool to empower artists to publish their own work and build a readership as they sought commercial or educational recognition and publication.  Thus was born Wordsmith Publishing, Inc. and our first web site was launched with grand ideas of an open reading type publishing company modeled after the educational award publications.

Needless to say at the time the effort was ahead of it’s time and technology was not yet at a place where one could effectively conduct commerce around  the publication of content. Interest was limited and there was a great deal of “push-back” from traditional writer’s to “take a chance on this internet thing.” Despite these early set backs, I persevered

and began applying the study of information architecture to produce an engine or framework that would allow Wordsmith Publishing, Inc. to build web applications that would sell access to content and allow artist to post their own content. The fruit of thousands of hours of design and development, The WebSmith Software Site Framework Application is it’s flagship internet software publishing platform.

This Framework Application is currently the basis for our future development and deployment efforts. Wordsmith Publishing, Inc. is committed to continuing to drive its intellectual property ideas into new forms of emerging technology as has been our long history.
